Gdy to piszę, po biurku pełznie stonoga. Jeżeli przewróci się ją na grzbiet, można obserwować straszliwą walkę, którą toczy, by znów stanąć na nogi. W tym momencie ma „cel” w życiu. Gdy jej się powiedzie, można prawie dostrzec wyraz tryumfu na jej obliczu.
Odchodzi i nietrudno ją sobie wyobrazić, jak opowiada tę historię na najbliższym spotkaniu stonóg, poważana przez młodsze pokolenie jako owad, który dokonał czegoś takiego. Ale w jej radości i dumie jest też trochę zawodu. Teraz, gdy osiągnęła szczyty, życie wydaje się jej bezcelowe.
